Competency Training

General Courses

Our general courses cover a range of topics, including safety-observer training for non-electrical personnel.

Course Name: Fault Loop Impedance
Duration and Venue: 1 Day, at CT's Brisbane or Mackay Training Centre or Client Facility
Description: This course is intended for Electricians and Engineers, to further understanding of the standards and regulatory requirements for earth loop impedance, the history and origin of the concept, and methods for its calculation. Numerous example circuits are worked through in detail, and methods of rectifying non-compliant installations are discussed.
Assessment: In-class progressive assessment, short-answer test papers.

Competency

Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of the course a Statement of Completion is issued.
Prerequisite Competencies: Course participants will require a minimum Certificate III in Electrotechnology or equivalent, or tertiary electrical qualification.
Course Fee: $300 (ex. GST) per person, including lunch.
Notes: Typically a minimum of 8 people is required to run the course.

Course Name: LV Safety Observer
Duration and Venue: 1 Day, at Client Facility
Description: This course is designed to train both electrical and non-electrical personnel to become safety observers for work in or near exclusion zones for live electrical equipment. It is carried out on site with the equipment that is to be worked on or near.
Assessment: In-class progressive practical assessment.

Upon successful completion of the course a Statement of Completion is issued.
Prerequisite Competencies: None.

Notes: Typically a minimum of 8 people is required to run the course.

Course Name: Exclusion Zone Safety Observer
Duration and Venue: 1 Day, at Client Facility
Description: This course is designed to train both electrical and non-electrical personnel to become safety observers for work in or near exclusion zones for any low-voltage electrical equipment. It is carried out on site with the equipment that is to be worked on or near.
Assessment: In-class progressive practical assessment.
