High Voltage Functional Switching | WITHIN HV SWITCHING
High Voltage Functional Switching training is intended for electrical and non-electrical personnel and provides training in how to safely isolate high voltage equipment for mechanical or production maintenance, (i.e. not for HVIA purposes). It is typically carried out on site, using the customer’s equipment and procedures and the certification restricts participants’ operations to the specific equipment they have been trained to isolate.
This course provides an overview of the relevant legislation and Australian Standards, an introduction to the hazards associated with high voltage switching and the precautions to take when performing high voltage switching, as well as a practical component of switching for mechanical purposes only. It is appropriate for a range of personnel which includes, but may not be limited to, electrical workers and plant operators.
At the end of the High Voltage Functional Switching training, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of electrical theory and legislative requirements
- Prepare to operate switchgear in accordance with company procedures
- Operate circuit breaker in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company procedures
- Validate Circuit Breaker Integrity
This course includes nationally recognised units of competency including
- UEPOPS349B Operate Local HV Switchgear
- UEPOPS357B Operate Local LV Swtichgear
Our courses are delivered by qualified, experienced trainers who are all currently practicing as engineers and designers in the electrical and instrumentation industries, and have experience across multiple disciplines. Competency Training offer the flexibility of either delivering the courses on site, using the client’s own equipment and tailored training material. Alternatively, we can host at one of our dedicated training centres across Australia.
This course is only available as a company run course and currently does not feature on our Public Training Calendar.
